PTM strives for perfection in its pursuit of list accuracy. We are constantly updating and improving the PTM database of physicians and other healthcare professionals. PTM utilizes developed M.A.P., an acronym for ‘Medicine Actively Practiced’, to better define which specialty the doctor is actually practicing, irrespective of their board certification.
GP/FMs
For example, if a GP/FM works full time in an Emergency Department, whether or not they are certified in Emergency Medicine (EM), M.A.P. identifies the doctor as an EM doctor and not as a GP/FM.
As a result, PTM's GP/FM count will be reduced by one and the EM count will be increased by one. However, PTM's relational database allows you to select the EM doctors as GP/FMs, should they be your target group.
Specialty Groups
M.A.P. Targeting applies to all specialty groups. PTM's demographic report conveniently groups the major specialties with its related sub-specialties, enabling you to better visualize your target audience.
A specialty example of M.A.P. Targeting is Ob/Gyn Oncology. These doctors practice Ob/Gyn Oncology exclusively. Although they are qualified in Ob/Gyn, they do not deliver babies, treat menopause, prescribe birth control pills, etc. To more effectively target this group, PTM has developed the category of Ob/Gyn ‘Generalists’, differentiating them from the other Ob/Gyn specialties.
